Congress party hopes of forming gov in Telangana dashed after the results

Hyderabad: With the Congress facing a shock defeat in Telangana, party leaders who had harboured hopes of becoming the CM of the new state were disappointed. Some them were also defeated in the polls. 
 
Telangana PCC president Ponnala Laxmaiah lost from the Janagama Assembly seat in Warangal district. Former Deputy CM Damodar Raja Narasimha lost from the Andole Assembly seat in Medak district and former PCC president D. Srinivas lost in the Nizamabad Rural. 
 
Congress CM aspirants who won are K. Jana Reddy (Nagarjunasagar), N. Uttam Kumar Reddy (Huzur Nagar), J. Geetha Reddy (Zaheerabad) and D.K. Aruna (Gadwal). Nine former ministers won while 19 lost. In Seemandhra, all Cabinet ministers who contested on Congress tickets lost.
