Hyderabad: Though the BJP increased its tally from two Assembly seats to five and from zero Parliamentary seats to one in Telangana, and has emerged as the Opposition party along with its ally Telugu Desam, state president G. Kishan Reddy said the results were far below expectations.
He admitted that the party was disappointed with its Telangana performance, especially as the BJP had played a crucial role in the “Telangana movement.” Mr Reddy said the BJP will analyse the results to find out reasons for its poor performance.
Though the BJP’s vote share has increased, the party did not win the expected number of seats.
Thanking Amberpet voters for helping him win with over 61,000 votes by defeating Congress veteran V. Hanumantha Rao, he said the fact that the TRS candidate secured the second position, and Mr Hanumanth Rao was relegated to the third place proved that a strong T sentiment had swept across Telangana.
