Mithali, Jhulan set to enjoy playing at historic Lord’s
Two Indian women are a part of Rest of the World Women team
Mumbai: Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami, the two members of the Indian woman team left for London on Friday afternoon to take part in Lord's Bicentenary 50-over match on Monday 19 May.
India captain Mithali Raj and all-rounder Jhulan Goswami have been included in Rest of the World Women team to play against MCC Women team.
"I had been training for this match at St. John's camp in Hyderabad but not intensely because after this game there is long gap before the England tour (in August) so I didn't want to be drained out", she said exclusively.
It is almost two years since then when Mithali came close to register the century at Lord's, the Mecca of cricket. She was unbeaten on 94 with three balls remaining when India won the ODI against England on July 1, 2002.
"I have decided to enjoy the atmosphere than thinking of scoring a hundred at Lord's this time, though, not being able to do so two years ago will always be at the back of my mind", she added.
"It (playing at Lord's) is a different experience once in life time considering women cricketers we don't get such opportunity often", she signed off.
Jhulan Goswami, 31, is equally overwhelmed to play at Lord's "I have not done well at Lord's on previous occasions but it has been always great to play there. It will be unique thing to share dressing rooms with girls from different countries and I am excited", she said minutes before boarding a flight to London on Friday.
The match, the first time ever organised by the MCC between the MCC Women's XI and Rest of the World Women's XI, and it has included some of the world's biggest names in women's cricket.
