Party rallies for Chief Minister post to KCR
TRSLP moved resolutions hailing Mr Rao for single handedly leading the party to victory in the elections
Hyderabad: “KCR CM” slogans set the mood at the Telangana Bhavan where the TRS Legislature and Parliamentary Party meetings were chaired by TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who won the Gajwel Assembly seat and Medak Lok Sabha seat (highest majority among MPs in both regions).
TRS secretary general K. Kesava Rao, politburo members Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Etela Rajender, T. Harish Rao, Ramana Chary and all newly-elected MLAs, MPs besides MLCs who attended the luncheon meeting, hailed Mr Rao for successfully leading the movement.
All eyes are now on Cabinet formation by June 2, the Appointed Date for Telangana.
Mr Rao will have a tough task in selecting an 18-member team, ensuring places for senior party and movement leaders, castes and communities from the 10 Telangana districts.
With Mr Rao becoming the CM a foregone conclusion, the focus is now on the deputy chief minister’s post which he had promised to a Muslim. MLC Mohd Mahamood Ali and Bhodhan MLA Shakeel Ahmed are in the race for the post.
Ghanpur (Station-SC) MLA T. Rajaiah, a dalit, moved the single line resolution proposing the name of Mr Rao as legislature party leader which was supported by another dalit, Dharma-puri (SC) MLA Koppula Eshwar apart from Mr Rajender among others. The motion was unanimously adopted.
In a strategic move, TRS dalit MLAs were as-ked to move the resoluti-on to ward off criticism after Mr Rao dropped the idea of appointing the first dalit CM. He however, promised to make a Muslim as dep-uty CM. “KCR was unanimously elected leader of the TRS Legislature Party. We will meet the Governor on Sunday and hand over the resolution for further action. The House has to be constituted,” said Dr Keshav Rao.
Dr Keshav Rao thanked prime minister designate Narendra Modi, AP chief minister designate N. Chandrababu Naidu, and said the TRS government would maintain cordial relationship with the Centre and the neighbouring states.
The TRSLP moved resolutions hailing Mr Rao for single handedly leading the party to victory in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, seeking withdrawal of all pending cases against students and other Telangana activists during Telangana movement at the first Cabinet meeting and empowering him to decide on the TRS Parliamentary Party leader.
