Oil and gas stocks fall as much as 4%
Led by loss in stocks, the oil and gas index ended at 11,207.45, down 3.26 per cent
Mumbai: Oil and gas stocks fell by as much as 4 per cent on profit-booking by investors in a lackluster broader market. Shares of ONGC tanked 3.96 per cent to Rs 399.90, while Reliance Industries Ltd fell by 3.73 per cent to Rs 1,078.50 on the BSE.
Indraprastha Gas fell by 3.29 per cent, while Indian Oil Corp was down 2.92 per cent, Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (2.91 per cent) and Gail India (2.08 per cent). Led by the losses in these stocks, the oil and gas index ended at 11,207.45, down 3.26 per cent, the top loser among the BSE's 13 sectoral indices.
ONGC and RIL were the biggest drag for the BSE key index Sensex and capped gains for the benchmark index. In the broader market, the Sensex ended on a flat note, up 13.83 points to 24,376.88.
