Kamal Haasan’s Cannes look ‘homemade’

Hyderabad: Behind every successful man is a woman, and the woman behind Kamal Haasan’s dapper looks is none other than Gauthami.
The actress, who has been lauded for her personal style and fashion sense, has this time around styled Kamal’s red carpet look for Cannes.

She says, “Be it an international festival or a public event, the thing one has to understand as a costume designer is to design the clothes according to the situation and the ambience. Cannes is not only an international and iconic event, but it is also looked upon as a platform to showcase the best of fashion. Therefore, I decided that Kamal’s outfit must be Western and designed it to suit his body structure.”

Talking about Kamal Haasan’s personal style statement, she says, “He prefers wearing classic outfits, albeit with a twist. And when I say twists, I mean a slight variation in the way the cuts or the buttons are placed on his suits.”

Talking about the superstar’s look at Cannes this year, she says, “For the red carpet, I opted for a classic tuxedo, as I felt it would be really appropriate and perfect for him. The buttons and the cuts on his outfit were tailored in such a way that they would be perfect for his body structure. Another look was a slightly more casual one, a pleasant blazer, jeans and a simple shirt.”

Gauthami takes pride in the fact that Kamal has never once questioned her sense of judgement when it came to his look. “It was touching to see the amount of trust he had on me,” she adds.
