Lucknow: Posters demanding that  Priyanka Gandhi play a bigger role in the Congress have been put up in Allahabad.

The posters plead, “Maiyya do aadesh, Priyanka badhaye Congress ka kad” and “Aa jao Priyanka, Chha jao Priyanka” make no mention of Mr Rahul Gandhi and neither do they carry his photograph.

The posters have been put up by Haseeb Ahmed, a local Congress leader who says that Priyanka, 42, deserves a larger role in the party after Rahul Gandhi led the party to a disaster in the general elections.

“Priyanka did not run for polls but managed the campaigns of her brother and mother, and constructed an aggressive attack on Mr Modi. It was because of her that the party could win the two seats for Rahul and Sonia,” he said.

Mr Ahmed is known to have put up similar posters in Allahabad in 2013 and was temporarily removed from the Congress too.
