TPCC recommends for Palvai’s Govardhan Reddy expulsion
Govardhan Reddy criticised Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Digvijay Singh
Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress disciplinary committee has urged the high command to expel MP Palvai Govardhan Reddy from the party. This comes following Mr Govardhan Reddy’s criticism of TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah and party general secretary Digvijay Singh.
The committee, headed by M. Kodanda Reddy, met at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday and discussed the MP’s criticism of the two leaders, including his demand for their removal.
Taking serious objection to his comments, the committee wrote to the high command recommending Mr Govardhan Reddy’s expulsion from the party.
Meanwhile, Congress MP Renuka Chowdary blamed the defeat of the Congress in Telangana on the “failure of the senior leaders.”
Speaking to the media on Monday, Ms Chowdary said that they could not capitalise on the party creating a separate Telangana state. She apologised to party president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi for the loss in Telangana.
She expressed confidence that the Congress would stage a comeback as its foundation was still very strong.
She said that the TRS manifesto had reached the villages but Congress leaders had failed to achieve a similar result. She alleged that some Congress leaders had misled Mrs Gandhi, while others were daydreaming that the Congress would win because of statehood.
