Hyderabad: Student groups and social organisations supporting the English and Foreign Languages University movement met various party leaders and requested them to join a round table to be held at the Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram on May 23.

On May 12, the civil society organisations, as well as professors, had given a representation to withdraw the rustication orders of three research scholars, Satish Nainala, Mohan Dharavath (Telangana) and Subash Kumar. The administration, however, has not responded even after a week.

The Students’ Forum For Justice, which includes students from OU, Eflu and UoH, met TNGO central union president, Devi Prasad, TNGO central union secretary Ravinder Reddy, CPI state general secretary Naryana, Chada Venkar Reddy and also commissioner of police Anurag Sharma, and gave another representation.

A press meet was also held outside the Arts College, Osmania University, that was addressed by professors from Osmania University, Prof. P.L. Vishweshwar Rao, Prof. G. Laxman, Prof. K. Laxmi Narayana, Sandhya (POW), Mr Pidamarthi Ravi (TMJAC) and others.

Prof. P.L. Vishweshwar Rao said, “This is not only about the rustication of these three students, but we should fight for removal of Prof. Sunaina Singh form the post soon as she has proved that she is not capable of handling the University. These are very undemocratic measures used by the Vice Chancellor to address the issue.”
