Party elects Jagan as YSRCLP leader
Jagan says people's resentment to TDP will grow when the promises made don't turn to actions
Hyderabad: YSR Congress Legislature Party elected Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as its leader in the YSRCLP meeting held at Idupalapaya in Kadapa district on Wednesday. Mr Reddy, with 67 MLAs in AP Assembly is hoping to be a strong Opposition leader.
After being elected, Mr Reddy sent a stern warning to the TD saying that his party would closely monitor the election promises made by its chief N. Chandra-babau Naidu.
He said, “Though there was a small set-back, we are never lagging behind. Despite the TD tie-up with the BJP and Modi wave, the difference between the victory and defeat is just over five lakh votes working out to 1.9% which is wafer thin and this could happen as my heart did not permit to give false promises like Chandrababu Naidu. Had I done that, the roles would have been reversed, but that would be a short term gain. As days progress and promises fail to translate into action, resentment will grow and people will be up in arms against it and the party that takes up the reins with such false promises cannot win even 10 seats out of 175 next time,” he said.
