Sonia Gandhi writes to Narendra Modi felicitating him for poll triumph

New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi has written a letter to Narendra Modi congratulating him on his victory in Lok Sabha elections.

She sent a letter of congratulation to the BJP leader on Tuesday, AICC sources said on Thursday.

There had been criticism of Sonia and her son Rahul Gandhi for not felicitating Modi by his name after his landslide win.

BJP has won a majority on its own for the first time in India's 543-seat Lok Sabha -- the more powerful lower house of Parliament.
