Hyderabad: TRS supremo and Telangana Chief Minister-in-waiting K. Chandrasekhar Rao will be leading a big contingent of party leaders and MPs to Delhi on Sunday to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister next day. This would be Mr Rao’s first visit to Delhi after the TRS’ victory in recently Assembly elections in Telangana.
Though it is meant to be a courtesy visit for the pink party chief, who is attending the function on the personal invite from Mr Modi, TRS sources said he will meet some of the officials working in the Union government belonging to Telangana region to discuss the issues pertaining to the region.
Sources also said Mr Rao will explore possibilities of getting more revenues and schemes from union government. However, it is not clear as of now on Mr Rao meeting Mr Modi separately during his stay in Delhi.
“Mr Modi will be too busy meeting heads of foreign nations and other key dignitaries for coming few days. It will be difficult to get his appointment, however Mr Rao will try to meet him with the party contingent,” said a source. Mr Rao will fully cooperate with the centre and try to get maximum assistance from it for Telangana, the source added.
The TRS chief is scheduled to return on Tuesday morning, but depending on the meeting with Mr Modi, there could be changes in the return trip.
