Chennai: Adaminte Makan Abu, which won several honours and accolades, including four National Awards and four Kerala state awards, apart from being the official entry to the Academy Awards in 2011 in the Best Foreign Language Film category, is being dubbed in Tamil as Adamin Magan Abu.
The film had veteran Malayalam actor Salim Kumar playing a 75-year-old Muslim, and ace Bollywood actress Zarina Wahab, who is an equally popular face in Malayalam, as his wife. The movie is a heart-wrenching story of a poor old man’s desire to go on the holy Hajj pilgrimage along with his 65-year-old wife.
Other members of the supporting cast include Nedumudi Venu Mukesh and Kalabavan Mani. AMA is written, directed and co-produced by debutant Salim Ahmed. He says, “This has been my 10-year-long dream. I had worked in a travel company for many years and took a leaf out of my own personal experiences for the script.”
The movie was critically acclaimed and liked by audiences too; Haniffa Movies is therefore planning to release it on the maximum number of screens in Tamil Nadu.
