Los Angeles: Former Microsoft chief Steve Ballmer has signed an agreement to buy the Los Angeles Clippers basketball team for $2 billion, according to a statement from him and co-owner Shelly Sterling.

The NBA is forcing the Sterling family to sell the team because of racist comments about blacks that were made by its other co-owner, Donald Sterling, who is reportedly poised to oppose a sale.
