Kakatiya arch, Charminar in Telangana state logo
TRS proposed only Kakatiya arch, MIM requested to include Charminar
Hyderabad: The 29th state of India, Telangana, has got its new unique logo. Like the fabled Ganga Jamuna Tezeeb (composite culture), the official logo is a cultural mix of iconic Kakatiya Kala Thoranam of Kakatiya Dynasty and the world famous, over 400-years-old Charminar of Hyderabad, in addition to Ashoka emblem.
Noted Telangana artist Laxman Aelay designed the logo for the Telangana government in about four days’ time. It was approved by TRS chief and Chief Minister-in-waiting K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday.
The logo has Ashoka symbol in gold at the top with Kakatiya arch and Charminar in the background.
The logo in four languages of English, Telugu, Urdu and Hindi has mix of green and gold colour, symbolising “Bangaru Telangana” (Golden Telangana). Government of Telangana (Telangana Prabhutvam and Telangana Sarkar) are inscribed in it. At its bottom, the words Satya Meva Jayathe is inscribed in Hindi.
Initially, the TRS proposed only the Kakatiya arch, but MIM supremo Asaduddin Owaisi, who met Mr Rao, requested him to include Charminar in the logo, which was accepted. However, state BJP president Mr G. Kishan Reddy objected to it, but the TRS ignored his protest.
The 50-year-old Laxman Aelay, a well-known painter of Telangana, was born in Kadirenigudem in Nalgonda district and did BA in painting in JNTU Hyderabad.
“It took me about four days to prepare the logo on the request of KCR garu. I made about 10 designs. KCR finally approved this logo today. It’s a great honour for me to design the logo of new Telangana state,” Mr Laxman Aelay told this newspaper.
The new logo will appear on the government invitations for the swearing-in ceremony of Mr Rao as Chief Minister and other functions on June 2.
