Invitation only or will Naidu demand for special category status to Seemandhra?

Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam is expecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and about 5 lakh people to watch the grand swearing-in ceremony of N Chandrababu Naidu as the first Chief Minister of the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh on June 8.

Naidu arrived in Delhi on Friday to personally invite the PM, NDA leaders, Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states to attend the ceremony. Earlier in the day, Naidu met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Reports indicate that Naidu would put forth the demand for special category status to Seemandhra region, which will form the residual Andhra Pradesh when the state of Telangana is born on June 02.

The BJP had earlier promised Seemandhra region "special status" for 10 years, if his party was voted to power at the Centre. The TDP won 16 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh.

Over 5 lakh people are expected to turn up to attend the ceremony that is scheduled for 7.27 pm on June 8.
