Hyderabad: Flying high on real and concocted controversies has been a trademark for Bollywood star Mallika Sherawat. Currently, she has draped herself in the Indian flag, tiranga.

In her, forthcoming film, K C Bokadia’s ‘DIRTY POLITICS’, the actress is seen draped in the tiranga while seated on top of an Ambassador car, next to the red beacon that symbolises ministerial clout  in India.

The poster, was displayed at Bokadia’s office in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The poster has earned the ire of some political parties in the pink city, and they are demanding the removal of the poster.

Bokadia has defended himself saying that the film is based on the Bhanwari Devi case, so references to politics are natural.

As member of IMPPA (Indian Motion Picture Producers Association),  publicity material has to be passed by the industry body. So far, Bokadia is yet to get clearance for this poster. T P Aggarwal, the president of IMPPA, has reportedly mentioned that a poster, or any publicity material that insults the  tricolor, will never be cleared by the association.

Bokadia mentions that if IMPPA objects to the poster, he is willing to alter  the color of the drape- from green to blue.

He has also clarified that he didn’t put out the poster on purpose, and that his publicity team used the poster within his office for self referencing.

As for Mallika Sherawat, she is yet to speak on the controversy. Having completed a rather uninteresting stint free of skin show at Cannes this year, this could be Miss Sherawat’s return to the headlines, without Swayamvars.
