New Delhi: Not impressed by intent of ministries to re-name old programmes and schemes of the  government, PM Narendra Modi, while setting the ground rules and work processes for his ministerial colleague, has made it clear that there should not indulge in any such attempt. He told them that they should concentrate on changing the “old-style functioning” rather.

Sources in the government also revealed that Mr Modi is yet to make up his mind on the issue of addressing the nation, as there is view that such addresses are old form of interaction with the people. They said Mr Modi, who tweets his thoughts every day and is active on social media, could well choose to use the Parliament session beginning next week to share his top priorities. It is learnt that Mr Modi asked his colleagues “to focus on doing justice to their duties instead of wasting time in renaming running programmes.”

Conventionally, new regimes at Centre or in states are notoriously famous for renaming or scrapping such schemes.
