8 buses were damaged in the incidents that took place on Saturday
Pune: Shiv Sainiks staged protests in the city and surrounding localities and pelted stones at buses following a controversial Facebook post which contained alleged derogatory references to warrior king Shivaji and Sena leader late Bal Thackeray.
About eight buses were damaged in the incidents that took place on Saturday and on Sunday morning as the Sena activists took to the streets and filed complaints with police demanding immediate removal of the post, police said.
Shops in various areas of the city downed their shutters this morning in response to appeal by the Sainiks to join the protest.
Cyber crime branch of police said the post was now deleted from the social networking site and urged the protesters to maintain calm.
The situation was under control, police said, adding that they were investigating into the source of the controversial post of the concerned Facebook account.
In 2012, two girls were arrested over a controversial Facebook post on Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray.
