TRS manifesto promises waiver of loans, houses for the poor, free education

Hyderabad: The first file that the K. Chandrasekhar Rao Cabinet will pass pertains to the logo for Telangana state designed by noted artist Laxman Aelay. This is the only item on the agenda at the informal Cabinet meet after Mr Rao takes oath as Chief Minister along with his 12- or 15-member Cabinet. The team will will be expanded later.

Files pertaining to waiver of loans, sanction of Rs10 lakh each ex-gratia to kin of Telangana-martyrs, both of the recent agitation and also the 1969 movement, among others will okayed only after the administration is in place and at Cabinet meets formally in a few days

The CM-designate has decided to keep all the welfare portfolios with himself to ensure proper implementation of the TRS manifesto promises like waiver of loans, two-bedroom houses for the poor, free education from KG to PG.

Highly placed sources told Deccan Chronicle that Mr Rao had cleared the appointment of Mr Rajiv Sharma as the first chief secretary and Hyderabad police commissioner Anurag Sharma as the first DGP of Telangana. They will be formally appointed after Mr Rao takes oath. Mr Sharma is presently additional secretary in the Union ministry.

A 1982 batch IAS officer from the Andhra Pradesh cadre, Mr Sharma worked as the director-general of the CGG from September 2006 to January 2011. He is an alumni of the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, He completed his master of arts in rural development from the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom, and Ph.D in public policy from the Carnegie Mellon University in the US.

Mr Rao has already decided on Mr Narsinga Rao, former Coal India chairman, as principal secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office and Mr Shivdhar Reddy as the Intelligence chief.
