Jaipur: In the first serious attack on the first family of the Congress, a senior MLA from Rajasthan has questioned the credentials of not just party-vice-president Rahul Gandhi, but Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as well, to lead the party. Airing the growing unrest in the party against Rahul Gandhi’s inability as a leader Bhanwar Lal Sharma the MLA from Sardarshahar has hit out the Gandhi family, saying that Mr Gandhi led the party in the Lok Sabha polls only because he was born in the Gandhi family.

After the poll debacle, there have been murmurs of protests against Mr Gandhi’s leadership, with leaders picking on his advisers for giving him wrong advice. Kerala leader T.H. Mustafa was suspended recently for his remarks against Mr Gandhi. But Mr Sharma is the first one to raise the issue of dynasty, saying it is time the party looked beyond the family, perhaps a clear sign of desperation and restlessness among the party cadre worried about future prospects.
