DMK Chief M Karunanidhi turns 91

Chennai: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) President M Karunanidhi today turned 91 as scores of party cadres celebrated the occasion by distributing sweets across the state.
The party supremo began the day by paying homage at the memorial of his mentor, DMK founder C N Annadurai here.
Senior DMK leaders, party functionaries and people from different walks of life lined up at his Gopalapuram residence to greet him on the occasion.
He would meet hundreds of party workers at the party headquarters Anna Arivalayam.
In the evening he is scheduled to address a public meeting at Royapettah here where a giant stage similar to his house at his birthplace Thirukuvalai has been set up to mark the occasion.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah greeted Karunanidhi on his 91st birthday.
"I convey my heartiest greetings and best wishes to you on your 91st birthday. I wish you a long, happy and healthy life in your service to people", Rosaiah said in a letter to Karunanidhi.
