Telangana: All eyes set on K T Rama Rao and Kavita
Siblings pledge to work for the rights of Telangana
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s son, K.T. Rama Rao, who took oath as minister in his father’s Cabinet, and daughter Kavita, who was elected as Nizamabad MP were the cynosure of all eyes at the Secretariat on Monday.
TRS leaders, activists and Secretariat employees vied with each other to meet them and take photographs. Both were favourites of the national media
Mr Rama Rao and Kavita accompanied Mr Chandrasekhar Rao to Nalla Pochamma temple facing the CMO in the Secretariat, where the new CM performed puja before entering his office in the C-Block.
The siblings accompanied their father as he walked from the temple to C-Block, a few yards away. They entered CMO along with him and participated in rituals performed by purohits in CMO before occupying the CM’s chair.
As soon as they emerged from the CMO, representatives of national media, who were present in large numbers surrounded them, and sought exclusive interviews for their respective channels in Hindi and English.
With fluency in both languages, they patiently obliged everyone braving the scorching heat. Ms Kavita said the formation of Telangana state was a historic event eagerly watched by the entire nation and people abroad and the national media would be helpful in conveying their message across the globe.
“Formation of T state is the victory of people’s movement. People have reposed faith in the TRS which fought with the sole aim of achieving T-state for 14 long years and gave a massive mandate in our favour in the recent elections. We will continue to strive to protect the rights of Telangana and its people,” Ms Kavita said.
