London: Singer Olly Murs has been named the most played pop star of 2013. The former 'X Factor' runner up saw off competition from the likes of Bruno Mars, Pink, Rihanna and Katy Perry to top the chart, compiled by music royalty body Phonographic Performance Ltd, reported Daily Mirror.

The results were based on airplay on TV and radio and in venues including pubs, clubs, gyms and shops.

"I'm absolutely delighted I've won this award. I'd like to thank all the writers and producers on all the records that I've done, they've been incredible, of course the TV channels, the radio stations, the pubs, the clubs, the bingo halls, whoever has played my songs. It means a lot to me and of course the fans because I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for them," Murs said.

In another category, his track 'Troublemaker' was the ninth most played pop track of the year with Daft Punk's hit 'Get Lucky' topping that chart followed by Robin Thicke's 'Blurred lines' and 'Mirrors' by Justin Timberlake.
