Telgi gets a day bail to attend daughter’s wedding
Against his plea for one month, Karnataka High Court granted a day’s bail
Bengaluru: As against his plea seeking one-month permission to perform his daughter’s wedding, the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday granted a day’s bail to Abdul Kareem Telgi, the prime accused and a convict in the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam. The wedding is on June 5 and the bride’s father will attend the ceremony under police protection.
Telgi had also sought permission to attend the reception in Belgaum on June 8, but the court rejected his bail petition. In his plea, Telgi had stated that he had served more than 10 years in jail and awaiting decision on his appeals before various courts, which should be considered while his bail plea was being perused.
He had also sought bail on the grounds that his wife was not keeping well and his presence was required to for the wedding ceremony.
Earlier, he had stated that the doctors had warned about his deteriorating health condition, he would not survive for long.
