Woman’s head blown off for resisting rape

Guwahati: In a shocking incident a 35-year old Garo woman was shot dead in front of her children for resisting an attempt of rape by armed rebel of Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) in South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.

“She was assaulted and molested by militants. When she resisted suspected GNLA militants shot her dead from point blank range. Her head was blown into two pieces,” police said.

The incident took place at a place called Raja Rongat when four-five GNLA militants entered the house at around 6 pm on Tuesday.

The woman was at home with her husband and children. The armed rebels loc-ked up her husband and five children inside the house and dragged her to an isolated area.
Meanwhile, former Lok Sabha speaker P.A. Sangma, MP representing the Garo Hills region condemning the incident said, “This has never been the case in the past. The state government has failed in tackling the situation.”
