New Delhi: The AIADMK, which is the third largest party in Lok Sabha after the Congress, might end up getting the post of deputy-Speaker. The ruling BJP is contemplating to offer the post to J. Jayalalithaa’s party in return for its support in the Rajya Sabha.

Though no final decision has been taken in this regard, sources said that the BJP is mulling giving the deputy speaker’s position to an Opposition party other than the Congress, which is likely to be AIADMK.

Giving the position to AIADMK also makes sense as the regional party has 10 members in Rajya Sabha where the ruling BJP is a minority.
Sources said that a final decision on the Deputy Speaker would be taken only after the election of the Speaker which ends on Friday.
