Upgrade to Windows 8.1 one week deadline
June 13 will be the final date by which time users should upgrade to Windows 8.1
Mumbai: Microsoft earlier announced May 13 as the final date for users on Windows 8.0 to upgrade to Windows 8.1. However, since few users were inefficient in doing so on time, Microsoft extended this date by 30 days to June 13. Now that there is only a week left, Microsoft urges everyone to hurry or else be left out.
Microsoft announced that all Windows 8 updates and patches will only be valid for those who have upgraded to the base version of Windows 8.1. Those who will still remain on Windows 8.0 and fail to upgrade on time will be left out and receive no updates and patches. This means that Windows 8.0 users could venture into the world of vulnerabilities and hackers, malware and adware Trojans could hijack your PC due to the unpatched operating system.
Microsoft, in the future, will only give out updates to the new operating system platform with the base version of Windows 8.1. Windows 8.0 users will not receive any updates, post June 13.
The upgrade from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1 is completely free and users who have purchased a licensed version of Windows 8.0 should upgrade to Windows 8.1 at the earliest. To do so, simply hit the Windows automatic update in the control panel and download the updated version for free. Those facing issues with the upgrade should inform your system administrator or call in your service provider to get help on the topic. You can also call the Microsoft help line to help you with the upgrade. Ensure you have a good broadband Internet connection to upgrade without any difficulties.
