Shilpa Shetty pledges to donate eyes
The actress has signed up with the social organisation Yashwant Samajik Pratisthan
Shirdi: Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has filled up a form to donate her eyes through a social organisation Yashwant Samajik Pratisthan. The 38-year-old actress during her visit to the famous shrine 'Shani Shinganapur' at Sonai village in Ahmednagar district yesterday, filled up a form with the social organisation to donate her eyes.
Earlier in the day, Shilpa along with her husband Raj Kundra and father Surendra Shetty visited famous Sai Baba temple at Shirdi. "My eyes will be of no use to me after death. It gives me satisfaction that my eyes can give vision to someone else," she told reporters outside the temple at Shirdi before leaving for Shani Shinganapur.
Earlier Shilpa's sister, Shamita Shetty had also donated her eyes through the same organisation. The actress said she is trying to forget defeat of her franchise Rajasthan Royals, which ended at the fifth position in the recently-concluded IPL tournament 2014.
"I am trying to forget the defeat. I am sure they will (players of her team) will a?take lesson from it," she said. To query on rising cases of crime against women and her expectation from the newly formed government at the Centre, the former UK reality show 'Big Brother' winner said she is happy that BJP leader Narendra Modi has formed government at the centre and that the safety of women should be among the priority agendas of the government.
