Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor in Kanchana remake?
I prefer to have a star like Amitabh Bachchan: Raghava Lawrence
Chennai: Choreographer turned filmmaker and actor Raghava Lawrence’s Tamil blockbuster, Kanchana, joins the list of southern hits that are setting a trend of being remade in Hindi, with the story being tweaked a little to suit local sensibilities.
Actor Ajay Devgn, who has tasted success, remaking Suriya’s Singham and Son of Sardaar which was a remake of Maryada Ramanaa, is all set to reprise Lawrence’s role in the remake of Kanchana — Muni 2. Apparently, Devgn who watched the film, was highly impressed with it and wanted Lawrence to make it in Bollywood as well.
Now, a little birdie informs us that Tusshar Kapoor will be making this movie in Hindi with Lawrence wielding the megaphone, thus making his foray into B’town territory.
While the choreographer played the lead protagonist in the horror comedy, Sarath Kumar surprised everyone with his transgender role. Now the major piece of news is that Amitabh Bachchan is being approached by Lawrence to play Sarath Kumar’s role in Hindi, around which the story revolves. And guess who is playing the lead lady which was done by Raai Laskhmi in K’town! We hear ravishing Kareena Kapoor is being considered for it.
Lawrence, who has recently resumed shooting for his sequel, Ganga — Muni 3, in Chennai after taking a health sabbatical, confirmed that he was making his B’town debut with the remake, with Ajay Devgn playing the lead. Ekta Kapoor’s brother, Tusshar, will be producing the film under his banner.
“Sarath Kumar’s role is the driving force behind the entire script, conveying a larger message to society. I prefer to have a star like Amitabh Bachchan, who has a huge image, and when he says something on screen the reach will be high.” As for Kareena, he grinned and was evasive.
