The Hyderabad Gateways, which have been conceptualised for the 14 junctions entering the city will not have any Telangana significance, but will portray the history and culture of Hyderabad keeping in mind that the city will be the common capital of both states for 10 years.

Around 2 km of roads leading to every Gateway will be beautified, including footpaths, central meridians and corridors.

The '50 crore project to beautify entry points of the Vijayawada Hyderabad junction, Bengaluru highway, Patancheru, Quthbullapur and Shamshabad junctions, will be taken up before September this year.

Each of the junctions will have a gate reflecting the culture and heritage of Hyderabad. Several designs are being shortlisted, city planning officers said.

Meanwhile, on account of World Environment Day on June 5, the civic authorities made certain allotments.

GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said, “'50 lakh has been allotted to each zonal commissioner to take up works relating to urban biodiversity wing exclusively; during this financial year, 500 colony parks will be developed.”

He said that around 20,000 iron tree guards would be procured for safeguarding plants along avenues; 2,000 saplings would be distributed to each corporators, 2 lakh to educational institutions and 1 lakh to malls.

The GHMC will also take up projects like developing a rock garden at Jubilee Hills, Miriam Tank, Kishan Bagh Park, Malkam Cheruvu, Khajaguda lake, Golconda Fort Heritage corridor, Thamidikunta Lake, Brailey Park at Nalgonda X roads, Mullakathva Lake, Kendriya Vihar Lake, Kothaguda lake and developing theme parks such as bamboo gardens, herbal gardens, bougainvillaea gardens, butterfly parks, beautification of Musi River bunds near the  High Court and beautification of NTR Marg on the lake side.
