AAP’s National Executive Council meeting to discuss resignation of party leaders
Rift emerged after exchange of letters between Yogendra Yadav and Manish Sisodia
New Delhi: Reeling under electoral debacle, Aam Aadmi Party is holding a National Executive Council meeting on Saturday to discuss the issues pertaining to the resignations submitted by the party's top leaders in recent days.
Senior party leaders Ashutosh and Sanjay Singh have also arrived for the meeting.
Reportedly, the issue of rift between senior leader Yogendra Yadav and party's convenor Arvind Kejriwal is likely to be discussed on priority in the meeting.
Rift in the party's top leadership emerged after exchange of letters between Yogendra Yadav and Manish Sisodia.
Yadav, known to be a key strategist, had written to the Political Affairs Committee after his resignation from it charging the party with "falling prey to personality cult" and that the decisions taken reflected the wishes of the party chief. He described Kejriwal as a supremo.
Interestingly, Kejriwal's close aide Manish Sisodia hit back at Yadav accusing him of targeting Kejriwal and making internal matters public.
Moreover, reports had surfaced that another party leader Anjali Damania might convince former leader Shazia Ilmi to rejoin the party.
"There is no rift in the party. There are bound to be problems and those will be discussed to find a correct solution," said party leader and senior advocate Prashant Bhushan.
