Chennai: Fresh from the success of Yaamiruka Bayamey, actor Karunakaran is happy about the progress of his career as an actor. He has impressed the audience with his subtle acting and choice of unique scripts.
Now, the latest buzz in the industry is that Karunakaran has been roped in by K. S Ravikumar to play a pivotal role in Rajini’s next magnum opus, Lingaa.
The actor says, “I will be joining the Lingaa team on June 18 in Hyderabad. When I got a call from them, I was too excited to even ask about my role in the film. I am happy to be a part of Rajini sir’s film.” Karunakaran is busy shooting for two films, Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Nanbenda, and Jiiva’s Yaan.
“I am playing Udhayanidhi’s friend in Nanbenda,” he says. Karunakaran, who quit his profession as a software engineer in a private concern to become an actor, says, “I don’t want to play a role that is larger than life. I am not a hero. All I want is to be a part of good scripts and perform well as a character artiste.”
The actor is also awaiting the release of Jigarthanda, which features Siddharth and Lakshmi Menon in the lead. The film is directed by Karthick Subburaj of Pizza fame.
