Hyderabad: As a first step towards fulfilling his election promise of a loan waiver to farmers, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu signed his first file as CM, approving the formation of a committee to compile a report on farm and Dwcra self-help group loans. The committee is to give the report in 45 days.
The second file he signed pertained to the increase in pensions to Rs 1,000 a month for widows, the disabled and the aged. The third file he signed pertained to the NTR Sujala drinking water scheme. The government will supply every household 20 litres of mineral water (packaged drinking water) at Rs 2.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu signed a file approving action to be taken against liquor belt shops. A task force will be set up by the excise department to crack the whip on illegal belt shops. Liquor licencees will be directed not to supply liquor to belt shops. Mr Naidu also approved enhancement of the retirement age of state government employees from 58 years to 60 years.
