Chandrababu Naidu sworn in as Andhra Pradesh CM; acts first on loan waivers
Glitterati at Babu fete as 19 ministers take oath, 2 from BJP
Guntur: Telugu Desam Party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu was sworn in as the first Chief Minister of the new state of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday in a ceremony attended by a galaxy of top political leaders and movie stars.
Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr Naidu at 7.27 pm, amid loud cheers from the lakhs of TD activists who had turned the grounds opposite Acharaya Nagarjuna University in Guntur into a sea of yellow.
Nineteen ministers who will form Mr Naidu’s Cabinet were also sworn in, two of them from the TD’s ally, the BJP. Most of the ministers, including Mr Naidu, took the oath in the name of God.
The Chief Ministers of Punjab, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Goa and Nagaland were present in the audience as were Union ministers Rajnath Singh and M. Anantha Kumar, senior BJP leaders L.K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.

Actor and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, actor-MP Balakrishna and actors Jr NTR and Kalyanram added glitter to the occasion.
