First session of Telangana Assembly begins today

K Jana Reddy is elected as the Protem Speaker

Hyderabad: First Assembly session of the newly formed Telangana state began on Monday, where in Protem Speaker K Jana Reddy would administer oath to the members.

Reddy was elected as the Leader of Congress Legislature Party recently and Speaker's election will be held on June 10.

Telangana Rashtra Samiti has a strength of 63 in the 119-member Assembly.

Reportedly, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao extended good wishes to residuary Andhra Pradesh counterpart, N Chandrababu Naidu and hoped that the state would scale greater heights in the development charts under his leadership.

Also extending his greetings to the people of Andhra Pradesh, he said, "The spirit of Telugu should continue".
