Gun battles went on for several hours, fire raging at the airport went on till the wee hours as ambulances ferried casualties away.
The airport attack still was ongoing early morning in Karachi although officials said all the passengers had been evacuated.

Officials have relaunched a military operation at the airport as gunfire resumed again after several hours. According to the reports a high intensity explosion was heard.

"It was not such a big attack, two people came towards the ASF checkpost and started firing. They ran away after the firing and because we are on high alert, under the standard operating procedure we called in (paramilitary) rangers and the army."
