Mumbai: SpiceJet, one of the low cost airlines in India, has announced a monsoon offer, under which the fares start at Rs 1,999 all-inclusive. This offer is only valid for flights between eight cities in southern India, which include Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mysore and Vishakhapatnam. The offer is valid for tickets booked between June 10 and June 12 for a travel between July 11 and September 30, 2014.

In addition to that, SpiceJet is offering fares starting as low as Rs 1,499 (excluding taxes) for flights between Bengaluru to Chennai/Goa, June 12 onwards.

With AirAsia entering the low cost airline market, SpiceJet’s slashed fare prices might enable it to peck away the market share from its competitors. The fresh round of promotional fares from the eight southern cities comes two days before the launch of AirAsia India's maiden flight, which is scheduled to take off from Bangalore for Goa on Thursday.

"We are pleased to announce that monsoons finally hit South India with great discounts on flights. Lean seasons like this are the best time to travel for guests without stretching their wallet," SpiceJet chief commercial officer Kaneswaran Avili said.
