US ‘excited’ to work with Narendra Modi government
US wants to partner with India in fulfilling those aspirations and hopes of the people
New Delhi: In what was the first high-level India-US interaction under the Narendra Modi government, US assistant secretary of state Nisha Biswal met her counterpart in the external affairs ministry on Monday.
Setting the tone for bilateral ties under a new government here, Ms Biswal said the US was very excited about the future and the road ahead with the Modi government having come to power with a resounding mandate.
She also indicated her government’s eagerness to engage with the Modi government saying that the US wants to “partner with India in fulfilling those aspirations and hopes of the people".
Ms Biswal had arrived in India on Saturday on a three-day visit. Her visit comes months ahead of Mr Modi’s visit to the US, where he will be meeting President Barack Obama on the sidelines of the UN General Aassembly summit.
