K Chandrasekhar Rao aides said house was unlucky
KCR had always liked existing CM’s camp office but kept away on advice of well-wishers
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had performed puja at Bungalow No. 9, Kundanbagh, Begumpet, on Monday, which was designated the Chief Minister’s residence. Bungalow No. 10 was allotted for his office, and No. 8 for for security personnel.
The two-acre camp office at Begumpet is on the road side while the residence is located at the back. The built-up area is about 25,500 sq ft. A TV studio was built on the first floor of the office in 2007 with state-of-the-art recording facility.
Sources said Mr Chandrasekhar Rao had always liked the existing CM’s camp office but had kept away on the advice of well-wishers and party leaders who had cited the unhappy end to the tenures of its previous occupants.
The Rs 3.5-crore copmplex was built by then Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy after his big win in the 2004 elections. He won a re-election in 2009 but died in a helicopter crash later that year. Mr K. Rosaiah who was chosen as CM was replaced in about a year; he used to stay at his own Ameerpet residence while working out of the Begumpet office. He was replaced by Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, who resigned as Chief Minister; in the recent elections, his party did not win a single seat.
