UPSC Results: 1,122 candidates selected for civil services

Chennai: The Union Public Services Commission on Thursday released the list of candidates to be appointed for the four civil services.
 
According to the UPSC website as many as 1,112 candidates have been recommended for appointment to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and Groups A and B of the central services.

Agrawal has got the first rank in the exam with Economics as his optional subject. 
 
He holds Bachelor of Technology (Computer Science) degree from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow.
 
Also Munish Sharma and Rachit Raj are the names found in the second and third places on the list put out by the UPSC on its official websie

The results are based on the scores of the candidates in the written part of the civil services examination and personality test interviews held between April and June this year.
 
The list includes 517 candidates from open category, 326 OBC candidates, 187 SC candidates and 92 ST candidates.
 
Of the 1,112 candidates, 180 will be selected for to fill vacancies in the IAS, 32 IFS, 150 IPS, 710 to Group A of the central services and 156 to Group B of the central services. The candidature of 40 recommended candidates is provisional and the result of one candidate had been withheld, said a release from the UPSC.
 
The results can be accessed on the UPSC website www.upsc.gov.in, and the marks are likely to be made available within 15 days, the release added.
