RSS man and BJP leader Manikyala Rao given endowments portfolio

Hyderabad: Apart from the finance portfolio, senior-most TD leader and former Speaker Yanamala Ramakrishnudu also holds the legislative affairs and commercial taxes portfolios.

Though Mr Ramakrishnudu is a prominent BC leader and stood a good chance of making it as Deputy CM, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu found it difficult to offer the post to a Kapu leader from East Godavari district. Now both the AP Telangana Cabinets have two Deputy CMs each.

Though it was speculated that Dr P. Narayana of Narayana Educational Institutions and close aide of Mr Naidu would be made Deputy CM, he will be minister for municipal administration, water supply and urban planning.

Mr Manikyala Rao, a RSS man and BJP leader from Tadepalligudem, has been allotted the endowments portfolio. Mr Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who had defected to the TD from the Congress during the elections, was given prominent portfolios like primary, secondary, higher and technical education which used to be handled by separate ministers earlier.

Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao of Krishna district got a plum portfolio of irrigation and water resources which is the lifeline for the state in the matters of Polavaram dam controversies and gigantic task of completing Jalayagnam projects.
