The biopic of mathematical genius is all set for release in both Tamil and English
Chennai: The biopic of mathematical genius, Ramanujan, is all set for release in both Tamil and English. The film traces the life of Ramanujan, his ideologies and inventions. The film was shot in Kumbakonam, the birthplace of the genius. The crew also shot a few scenes at Cambridge University, where he pursued his studies.
Abhinay Vaddi, a debutant who plays Ramanujan in the film, says, “I was most excited when I got this offer. I lost 25 kg to resemble Ramanujan, shaved off my hair several times too for the realistic look. This a biopic has commercial elements in it too, which will be a promising factor.”
Abhinay loves mathematics in real life too, having opted for it for his post graduate. “Knowing the subject made it easy for me to solve the equations on screen,” he says. He was thrilled too when people in Kumbakonam began calling him by his screen name!
They did not know what his real name was, and he himself forgot to correct them, so involved did he get with playing the genius’s role. The film is directed by Gnana Rajasekar and has Suhasini Mani Ratnam playing a vital.
