Andhra Pradesh to get three mega, 14 ‘smart’ cities
State government will develop Vizag, Vijayawada and Tirupati as mega cities
Visakhapatnam: AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has promised three mega cities and to transform towns under 14 municipal corporations into smart cities.
“The state government will develop Vizag, Vijayawada and Tirupati as mega cities. Steps will also be taken to turn towns under municipal corporations into smart cities. I had pleaded with the earlier government to do justice to AP during bifurcation. But they did it in a most unreasonable manner. After bifurcation, AP has around Rs 15,900 crore of deficit budget. We need at least Rs 4-5 lakh crore to build our capital. We will seek the Centre’s help,” he said.
The Chief Minister also said that they would ask the Centre to extend the special status accorded to the state as part of the bifurcation deal from five to 15 years.
