Bengaluru:Additional Director General of Police P. Ravindranath is likely to be booked for reportedly outraging the modesty of a young woman and criminal intimidation by the CID. The CID, which is investigating the ‘clickgate’ scandal in which the officer had reportedly taken ‘objectionable’ photographs of a young woman in a café in the city on May 26, is likely to file the chargesheet soon.

One of the “objectionable photographs” was leaked by the police to Deccan Chronicle. But it could not be confirmed whether the photograph was authentic. The CID, which is likely to submit the report to the government on June 16, is examining Sections 354 (assault a woman with the intention of outraging her modesty), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the The investigation has taken into account the two bust photographs of the victim, which have been forensically examined, the eyewitness accounts and statements of the victim and witnesses in the court, they said. Mr Ravindranath, who was then ADGP, Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), had reportedly clicked objectionable photographs of the woman in a café on Cunningham Road and was booked for sexual molestation and criminal intimidation by the High Grounds Police.

The case was handed over to the CID because of the alleged involvement of a senior rank IPS officer and the ugly turn of events, which included a revolt in the KSRP and a counter complaint registered by Mr Ravindranath against the Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Ravikanthe Gowda under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for what he alleged as caste victimization..Last week, Mr Ravindranath retracted his resignation, which he had submitted a day after the incident and was transferred as ADGP, Research & Restructuring, Dharwad. He has taken charge of the new post.
