No immediate relief in taxation, says PM Narendra Modi
Modi reminded that people may not like his decisions
New Delhi: The middle class, which is looking at the present government for some relief, including taxation, may have to suffer the agony for some more time.
“I am well aware that my steps may dent the immense love that the country has given to me. But when my countrymen realise that these steps will result in getting the financial health back, then I will regain that love. However, in the short run, such measures may not go down well with everybody,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said while addressing BJP workers in Goa.
He reminded, “The time has come to take tough decisions in the interest of the nation. Whatever decisions we take will be solely guided by national interest.”

Mr Modi is also aware that he has no magic wand to improve the situation. “We need to take harsh measures to improve the financial situation,” he said.
Hinting at UPA regime’s policy paralysis, Mr Modi said, “For 10 years, the people have not witnessed a working government in Delhi and this government will work with a clear conscience, clear policy and strong leadership to provide good governance.”
