Everest girl Poorna back at Pakala

This is the first time she visited the village after scaling Everest

Pakala (Nizamabad): Thirteen-year-old Malavath Poorna, the tribal girl who set a new record by scaling Mount Everest, returned to her native village Pakala on Sunday, to a rousing reception from villagers.

This is the first time she has visited the village after achieving the record.  The villagers felicitated Poorna, her parents Malavath Devidas and Lakshmi, both farm labourers. The villagers and various organisations, especially the youth, made elaborate arrangements for the reception. The people of neighbouring villages also joined the programme held on Sunday morning.

The teachers and classmates of Poorna, who is a student of the social welfare residential school in Tadwai mandal, also joined the felicitation programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Poorna dedicated her achievement to her parents, teachers and villagers of Pakala.
She shared her experiences in scaling Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world. The dead bodies on the way scared me but I proceeded with my mission,” she recalled.

Poorna said that she wanted to become an IPS officer in her life.

I had proved that the girl child could achieve anything if getting support and inspiration” she said. The girl mountaineer said that becoming of IPS officer is her ambition in the life. Telangana University registrar Prof R.Limbadri, district Congress committee president Taher Bin Hamdan and others were present.
