Rs 1.5 lakh for Andhra Pradesh heat wave victims
Almost 169 people died due to heatwave across state
Hyderabad: AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday announced an ex gratia of Rs 1.5 lakh to families of those who died in the heatwave recently. He said the government will pay Rs 1 lakh from the CM’s relief fund and Rs 50,000 from the Apathbandhu scheme.
Mr Naidu took the decision after meeting officials on Sunday at his residence. He asked Deputy CM and revenue minister K.E. Krishna Murthy to pay the ex gratia after discussion with district collectors and other officials. The Deputy CM obliged and reviewed the heatwave condition.
Officials told him that 169 people died due to heatwave. In Vizianagaram, 45 people have lost their lives, East Godavari 27 and in Krishna district the death toll is 22. Officials said the heatwave will continue for two more days in the state.
The Deputy CM told officials to take precautionary measures to alleviate the pain of people.
