New Delhi: Angry protests escalated into violence in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday over the killing of two constables by unidentified miscreants, drawing a strong reaction from the Centre which said it is concerned about the prevailing “law and order” situation in the state.

UP police DIG Vijay Singh Meena was one of those injured as the irate crowd resorted to brick-batting in several areas of the city. Many shops and vehicles were damaged by the angry mob which also blocked the road and set a police vehicle on fire.
