Telangana government initiates steps to improve infrastructure
Hyderabad: The TRS government, which is trying to imp-rove the brand image of Hyderabad and make it a wi-fi city, is initiating several steps towards this goal with focus on improving infrastructure and safety of women employees among others.
Minister for IT and panchayat raj K.T. Rama Rao held talks with representatives of IT companies on Tuesday, ascertained their problems and steps to be taken. Officials of the GHMC were also present at the meeting.
Safety of women working in IT companies, especially those working on night shifts, is being given top priority. The government has decided to improve road network around Hitec City, Gachibowli and other IT centred areas in Hyderabad, improve street lighting, ensure 24-hour power supply, drinking water facilities, installation of CCTVs at vantage points, increase in the frequency of MMTS, bus services and ensure safe taxis and autos.
Mr Rama Rao, who received list of steps needing urgent attention from representatives of the IT companies, promised to take up with the concerned authorities on priority. Ms Veena and Mr Satyanarayana, who spoke to the media after the meeting, said the minister promised to provide the needed facilities for IT companies and employees.
“We sought better infrastructure, more frequency of MMTS trains, women's safety, more street lights, 24 hour power supply, more surveillance cameras among others. Mr Rama Rao agreed to take up the issues on priority basis,” Mr Satyanarayana said.
